In Thursday inspiration hosted by Jim, the number he referred to is by Meredith Brooks called ‘bitch”. In the song , Meredith Brooks says, “I’m a little bit of everything, all rolled into one“. This immediately reminded me of our beloved Whitey Houston’s powerful song called ” I’m every woman” (original by Chaka Khan, Queen of Funk-Soul), a movie- bodyguard soundtrack starring Kevin Costner and Whitney herself. Apart from being an ardent fan of Whitney, I remember watching this movie thrice way back in 90’s.
Theme of both the songs have some similarity. While Meredith says “Just when you think you’ve got me figured out, the season’s already changin, I think it’s cool you do what you do, and don’t try to save me” to imply that the hero would need to change along with the heroine to keep them together due to her insouciant style, Whitney says ” Oh, I can sense your needs like rain onto the seeds, I can make a rhyme of confusion in your mind, and when it comes down to some good old fashioned love, I got it, baby” clearly expressing her desire to change for him.
So, in response to; Thursday Inspiration # 208 – Today, hosted by Jim there it is Late Whitney Houston, as my tribute to her. You will always remain forever young in our hearts Whitney.
Good afternoon and see you next time.
