Weekend Writing Prompt #324 – Panacea

Good morning and see you next time.

Guidelines- Weekend Writing Prompt #324: This weekend your challenge is to write a poem or a piece of prose in exactly 44 words using the word “Panacea”.

The challenge is simple: each week you will be given an exact number of words you can use to write a poem or piece of prose.  You can use any format or style you like; go wherever your inspiration takes you.  The only rules are these:

  • your poem / prose must contain this week’s word (see note below).  The word does not have to count towards the exact word count total – it can be in the title, or the first letters of the lines of a poem can spell it out – you can be as creative as you want as long as it’s there somewhere.
  • the length of your poem / prose must match the number of words stated in this week’s challenge.  No more.  No less.
  • A note on the word: you can use any variation of the word (for example: call, calls, calling, called etc).  If you find you are struggling to use this week’s word you may substitute it for a synonym – just include a note to explain the swap.  Remember, this is supposed to be fun!

Can’t wait to read what you have come up with!

They say ages have elapsed since you went away,

I don’t agree, it’s still the same, stuck up somewhere,

They say many seasons have turned up since then,

No, they haven’t, I still wait for spring to come,

I am still here by the river bank, beneath the open sky,

Where our fingers brushed occasionally when we talked,

They say ‘with time’s flow pictures among other things tend to get distorted’

I don’t agree, on the contrary, for me time has been standstill and pictures of moments of you and me have been live and vivid in my eyes all through.

 Reena’s Xploration Challenge #292, August 10, 2023)

Guidelines- “During the time travel process, pictures among other things tend to get distorted”. Let this line drive you to write your piece.

What are the other things that tend to get distorted? Can time travel be a metaphor for something else? Who is this man, and why did he get involved in the project? Is there something he is looking for, or something he wants to hide?

Well, the possibilities are endless.

There is no restriction on format of the piece. There is no last date either, unless you wish to be featured in the Weekly Wrap.

Any post that is found to be offensive, vulgar or something that hurts common sensibilities will not be included. This needs to be a safe space.

This was a very interesting and cakewalk kind of  prompt for the simple reason that I have generally been trying my best to write all nonsense craps anyway😊, so really, it didn’t require an extra preparation. But, writing a nonsense poem knowingly was the only apprehension. Still, here it goes with a request that pl ignore the sense in it, if  you find one after all

A lad went to a gal with a proposition,

Said,” marrying you is my life’s mission,

Pl accept this, its my humble submission,

Allow me and please pass my application”.

She said, well I’m in management profession

By the way, what is your qualification”,

Boy proudly said, I’m a dropout before matriculation,

My dad’s Emirifico is my sole justification,

She glared, smiled and patted on his cheek with admiration,

Boy! will discuss with your dad for further plan and notification.

Note- ‘Emirifico’ is the word I dared coining meaning the status of an Emir or Ameer i.e. an affluent person in higher echelons.

Virtues life’s only extract,

The king is fighting for his board-his reign,
All others, the coterie, except pawns, for power,
Every piece seems so indispensable,
Be it rook, knight, bishop, queen, or the king,
That anyone could be sacrificed for a pawn,
That one piece that moves so simple and straight,
No intriguing movements, one to one ethical,
Always Ready to get sacrificed for king’s sake,
If its side wins, good to be alive,
If its side losses, will do its tit-bit yet again.
Fight with a motive and fighting ethically,
Is important, win is secondary.

Outsmartly Yours

( Written for Weekend Writing Prompt #323 – Outsmart)

All of my life, I have only been thinking that

I out smarted him, how dare he could outsmart me,

Or how could he have outsmarted someone else

before I tried outsmarting him differently,

or he could outsmart me simply because

He had the luck on his side on all aspects,

Certainly not because, he had all that needed to outsmart me,

But all of my life I have neither been thinking

nor even searching for simplest of words to convey,

It doesn’t really matter who outsmarted whom before

Time really outsmarts every one of us.

Weekend Writing Prompt #323 – Outsmart

Good evening and see you next time.

Guidelines- Weekend Writing Prompt #323: This weekend your challenge is to write a poem or a piece of prose in exactly 96 words using the word “Outsmart”.

The challenge is simple: each week you will be given an exact number of words you can use to write a poem or piece of prose.  You can use any format or style you like; go wherever your inspiration takes you.  The only rules are these:

Can’t wait to read what you have come up with!

 It’s the lullaby of life,

Why not we sing it well,

Even if It makes you strive,

Sing it like a magical spell.

Why not we sing it well,

  Know we have to anyway,

Sing it like a magical spell,

On a playground not a fray.

Know we have to anyway,

Sing it happily n beautifully,

On a playground not a fray,

Play the game sportingly.

Sing it happily n beautifully,

Even if It makes you strive,

Play the game sportingly,

It’s the lullaby of life.

W3 Prompt #66: Wea’ve Written Weekly

Good evening and see you next time.

Pantoum?

The pantoum consists of a series of 4-line stanzas that rhyme ABAB, in which the second and fourth lines of a stanza recur as the first and third lines in the next stanza; each stanza introduces a new second rhyme as BCBC, CDCD. The first line of the series recurs as the last line of the closing stanza, and third line of the poem recurs as the second line of the closing stanza, rhyming ZAZA.

The design is simple:

Continue with as many stanzas as you wish, but the ending stanza then repeats the second and fourth lines of the previous stanza (as its first and third lines), and also repeats the third line of the first stanza, as its second line, and the first line of the first stanza as its fourth. So the first line of the poem is also the last.

Last stanza:
