( Written for W3 Prompt #81: Wea’ve Written Weekly )
Who says dreams do not really come true,
Few have the desire & courage to run for them,
True desire will lead and efforts will accrue,
Through highs and the lows, as and when.
So, pursue your dreams close to your heart,
Know the universe helps and takes your side,
Go for them even if present time is to thwart,
Slow and steady wins, and future in your stride.
Good afternoon and till later…

W3 Prompt #81: Wea’ve Written Weekly
Intro
Dear friends,
Welcome to our W3 Poetry Prompt, which goes live on Wednesdays at The Skeptic’s Kaddish.
You may click here for a fuller explanation of W3; but here’s the ‘tldr’ version:
Part I
The main ingredient of W3 is a weekly poem written by a Poet of the Week (PoW), which participants read before participating in the prompt.
Part II
The second ingredient is a writing guideline (or two) provided by the PoW. Guidelines may include, but are not limited to: word counts, poetic forms, inclusion of specific words, and use of particular poetic devices.
Part III
After five days, when the prompt closes, the PoW shall select one participant’s poem as the W3 prompt for the following week, and its author becomes the next PoW.
Simple enough, right?
Okie dokie ~ Let’s do this thing!
I. The prompt poem:
‘Until Spring’, a tanka series by Jennifer Russo
Indian summer Conquered by winter’s resolve I sit quietly Wrapped in a woolen blanket While waves crash upon the shore I rise from my perch A final walk on the beach Left behind till spring Lone cold feet imprint the sand Gulls cry lamentful goodbyes I pass through sand dunes Past sparkling freshwater ponds Wild geese preen feathers Indifferent to the chill While I shiver in protest
II. Jennifer’s prompt guidelines
As days grow shorter in the northern hemisphere, I find myself going to bed a bit earlier and rising a bit later. More time for dreaming! This week’s prompt is to write a “lento” on the topic of dreams. This could be about dreams themselves, the act of dreaming, the dreamer or a dreamlike quality.
Poems to inspire you
- ‘My Little Dreams’ by Georgia Douglas Johnson (1880 – 1966)
- ‘Dreams’ by Langston Hughes (1901 – 1967)
Lento?
- Two quatrains (four-line stanzas) with a fixed rhyme scheme of abcb, defe, as the 2nd and 4th lines of each stanza must rhyme;
- All the FIRST words of each verse should rhyme; click HERE for an example.
III. Submit: Click on ‘Mister Linky’ below
In order to participate and share a poem, open up this blog post, outside of the WordPress reader. At the bottom, just below these words, you will see a small rectangular graphic with the words ‘Mr Linky’. Click on that to submit.
Submissions are open for 5 days, until Monday, November 20, 10:00 AM (GMT+2)
